I know of at least 2 Suzuki grand pianos that got here via Sams Club.Apparently they got dropped shipped to the buyers home, uncrated and set up The pedals where suspended quite high and I had to make a filler piece on the lyre. The pianos where built for the market in Asia where pianists had short legs.

Not directly related to the question, but here is a funny story concerning a Sherman Clay grand.
When I was in St. Louis, one of my piano teacher customers asked me to on the lookout for a Steinway M or L grand she could buy and have me rebuild. One day she called me to schedule an appointment to tune her new grand piano. When I got to her house, she showed me her new, 4'10", shiny black Sherman Clay grand piano. OK, I thought, she decided not to wait for a Steinway.
When I asked her why she bought it, she told me her husband had been to Sam's Club and saw this piano on sale for $xxxx. All he knew was that his wife wanted a grand piano. Not knowing the difference, he bought it and surprised her with it.
She told me "I love my husband, and he's very smart (lawyer), but this is the stupidest thing he's ever done."

Check the Piano Book or the Piano Buyers Guide (online version of Piano Book with ads and free access) According to Pierce the Sherman Clay name was retired in 1990 From 19987 to 1990 Kimball made their pianos before that Daewoo in Seoul , South Korea made Sherman Clay.

I recently raised and tuned a Sherman Clay grand. The owner was told that this old piano was made by Baldwin. I'm a bit skeptical - it feels more Asian than a traditional Baldwin. Any information is appreciated.
Thanks!
