The market for ETDs is relatively small, and I think a Standards Body is quite unlikely.
That said, the ETSC does fairly rigorous testing before an ETD can be used in administering the PTG tuning exam.

Subject: Standard's Body Needed in PTG
We need a Standard's Body in PTG for the ETD makers. This would be like a piano tech who meets the requirements in their RPT exam and then gets a certification. The ETD makers should have to meet a standard and be tested. Such a body would operate like the ITU does for worldwide communications systems in Cellular and WiFi, for example. This way, the ETD makers would get together and be forced to come up with a set of standards for measurement, and then have to show compliance, and then meet that before getting their ETD certified!
