At the International Piano Competition the other day a number of challenges presented themselves
The instrument was 6 hours late in arrival and the venue tech was a saviour going out of his way to help and stay an hour longer than arranged. Concert level tuning time allowed 1 1/2 hours
The insrtument was a Yamaha C6 rather than C7. The hammers were hard and every note sent a clack up to the ceiling and deafeningly bounced back down.
The temperature was cold and was likely to get colder overnight.
15 minutes before scheduled rehearsal was available for complete revoicing. THANKS to Susan Kline for her liquid voicing technique and the instrument became intoxicated enough to perform . . . .
Oh - and then there was the problem with the microphones which weren't allowed to be seen.

was the result.
Unequal temperament enables the piano to sound bigger.
Best wishes
