    Hello,

Next year is looking like the year of upright shop work for me, likely one full rebuild and multiple partial rebuilds. While I'm getting very familiar with WNG action parts for grand pianos, I've not yet replaced upright action parts with WNG, let alone replacing an entire action.

If the process is fairly streamlined and WNG can build an action while I'm restoring the rest of the piano, this seems like a real win. For those of you who do this, how easy is the process? When the action is received from WNG, about how much additional work is needed before it can be placed in the piano? Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I have installed a new WNG vertical top action and was very pleased with the results. First time learning curve is steep. You will need to bend damper wires and install damper heads & felts, plus regulate dampers. Hammers can be ordered pre-glued to shanks; you then have to position hammer line and glue shanks into butts. Instructions WNG provides are very detailed but there are few extra things to know. It's a little too long to describe in a post, contact me directly and I will review my notes with you. I also have the installation jigs which I'd be happy to loan out for a nominal fee.
