FYI, I have recently found out that some part numbers in the 2012 Service Parts handbook that is available on their site have been changed and your automated order will be rejected. I was advised last September by George Box, Yamaha piano service specialist, that:
"That part like many parts in the Yamaha service parts catalogue has been superseded to the current part number that I gave you. We here at piano service have access to the current data, but the customer in field does not have access to such information.
Unfortunately that means that calling or emailing us is the best way to find current part numbers, prices and availability."
It's also unfortunate that they only answer the phone sporadically and are disinclined to respond to emails. I only got through in September after the local dealer got in touch with them and asked them to contact me. However, I did contact George just today and he responded almost immediately and was very helpful. >> pianoservice@yamaha.com.
It seems to me that this system is making it harder for everyone, starting with the fact that they consider piano technicians as just another "customer in the field."

While a couple decades ago I made a point of supplying serial numbers of pianos for which I've ordered parts, I have never been asked to supply serial numbers. It doesn't hurt to have the serial # of a similar age & model on hand "just in case." There is a PDF available (it's been posted on FaceBook & possibly somewhere on this site) of Yamaha piano parts & order numbers.

Yamaha will not sell parts for grey-market pianos. If you can find the same model piano sold in US, and have a serial number for that, you can use that serial number to order parts.

Order it from Yamaha. Contact # is in your monthly Journal & the PTG website. Speak to piano technical services, who will give you the appropriate part number & forward you to the department that will fulfill the order.

Hello everyone,
First, happy new year!
I picked up a 1976 gray market Yamaha U3 last year that someone set outside to throw away. I got it the day after it was set outside- no rain! It's been in my studio for a while and is fully acclimated to a consistent climate. The soundboard and bridges are immaculate. I'm gearing up to restring and refurbish in the near future to sell.
The muffler rail (middle pedal function is missing, and I'd like to get my hands on one to restore full functionality. Where can I find these?
Thank you!
