I first began piano tuning in 1974 while a student at West Virginia University where I received a Bachelor of Music in 1976. After moving to Rochester in 1976 I began working with other piano technicians to learn more about tuning, repair and restoration. I joined the Piano Technicians Guild in 1981 and attended many seminars that they sponsor to disseminate information. I became a registered piano technician in 1991 by passing the guild tuning and technical exams.
