Someone from a local town, Grafton, contacted me about a piano giveaway; I'm going to assume this is legitimate. "Child who played this is grown and gone." Piano is in "good" condition, 1905 Merrill grand. Free to good home; photo below. If interested, I'll get you in touch with the owner. I assume the only cost is to pick this up or have it shipped.

As we tell our customers, a free piano isn't free if there are lots of things wrong with it. Be sure to inspect the piano before it's moved.

If anyone is interested I'd be happy to do a quick assessment of this piano as a community service.

Last tuned about 1905 when it was new. I think. I just had another piano that had not been tuned in 60 years. Both customers got the pianos when they where about 5 years old. There is no such thing as a "free piano" . Someone needs to pay for the move and then pitch adjustments, tuning, repairs, regulation, cleaning . Its amazing how many free pianos are offered here. I have encountered a few that are low mileage and decent but the price of neglect is steep. If you go check it out please post what you find....

Any time I see a piano that is listed "for a friend", "for my neighbor", etc., I assume to be a scam.

If it's not the owner, most likely a scam. Caveat Emptor.
